Happy Thanksgiving to all! As of the time this post was published, we’re just on the other side of the big day

Being that most everyone has just spent the past few days prepping and cooking dishes for big Thanksgiving meals, you may find yourself not wanting to do much cooking by the weekend. The good news with this recipe is that you likely already have most (if not all) of the ingredients already in your kitchen & it doesn’t take long to make!

This dish is also a favorite of mine to make during snow days. Few things during a snow day at home are better than having a plate of this while watching snow fall.

What makes this French Toast recipe stand above others is the inclusion of flour, cinnamon and maple extract to the egg mix that the bread is dipped in. The flour helps to blend the mix, so that it isn’t just an egg being fried on top of a piece of bread. The cinnamon and maple extract go a long way towards taking the flavor up a couple of levels!

What toppings would be best on this French Toast?

My recipe calls for using powdered sugar, strawberries, and maple syrup. Alternatively, some other great toppings would be cream cheese, blueberries, almonds, chocolate chips,

Does this have to be served immediately after cooking? Or can this dish be kept & keep warm to serve after cooking?

This dish needs to be served immediately after cooking

Can any of this be prepped ahead of time? (say, the night before a Saturday morning long run?)

For this dish, you can’t really prep ahead of time, but fortunately it takes little time to prep & cook!

Instructions

Getting Started

  1. Turn stove top burner on to medium high heat
  2. Mix eggs, milk, flour, cinnamon, and maple extract in small bowl
  3. One at a time, dip bread in egg mix. Flip over and dip the other side in the egg mix as well

Cooking the French Toast

  1. Lay each piece of bread on the skillet to begin cooking.
  2. After 2 minutes (of if the edges turn to turn brown), flip the toast over. You want for the toast to be mostly (but not entirely) brown
  3. After 2 more minutes, flip the toast back over again. You're looking for the other side to be mostly (but not entirely) brown
  4. Once both sides have cooked, remove from skillet
  5. Repeat the above steps for as many pieces of french toast as you want to make
  6. You now have some absolutely delicious french toast. Enjoy immediately
